How I Would Use This Library for Your Technical Work
For mounting and workshop training, start with Nos. 1, 2, 15, 20, 24 and 25. Then add the exact bearing or housing instructions relevant to the job. Avoid transferring numerical hydraulic drive-up values indiscriminately between brands: SKF’s own explanation identifies bearing internal design and mounting configuration as relevant to its calculations. SKF Media Hub
For failure-analysis work, keep Nos. 34–38 together, rather than relying on a single manufacturer’s photographs. Build the investigation around operating history, inspection findings and collected evidence; SKF and Timken both include investigation guidance beyond visual damage recognition. SKF Media Hub
For lubrication engineering, begin with Nos. 44, 46 and 47, then move to the application-specific references. For your motor-bearing work, No. 59 is especially useful; for steel-mill and heavy industrial work, prioritize Nos. 61 and 62. These publications connect lubrication with the actual bearing arrangement and service conditions. Schaeffler
My suggested filing structure is Core Handbooks → Mounting and Clearance → Failure Analysis → Lubrication → Application Guides → Research. After downloading each PDF, rename it with the publisher, document code, title and revision shown inside. The searchable index above retains the same numbering as this article, making it straightforward to download and organize the documents one by one.
